Try our NEW Masterspool refills
Fed up of wasting 3D printing spools? Want to save on costs? Why not use a re-useable spool and buy the refills?
It's the same high quality PLA but sold on a refill spool, compatible with the new Masterspool design. Download and print it from thingiverse - https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2843577 For the original Masterspool.
Small Bed? Use this Thing which was developed for a smaller bed - https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3175515
The New Mica Range - with added Mica for extra shine.
Need a special colour? Just get in touch and we can arrange for a colour to be made just for you (minimum order quantity and set up charge may apply).
What is Pot Luck? A great way to save money if colour is not important. We experiment with colour or get things wrong occasionally - we sell these at a big discount because throwing them out is a waste! We do not always have them. Some of our customers enjoy playing the "what colour is it?" guessing game!
Here’s what our customers have said:
“Great quality filaments in a good range of colours. Flawless prints every time using their PLA and ABS.” Ben Fowler, B F Designs
“An Amazing Company that has Knowledge and Support far and above any other 3D Print Filament manufacture in the UK. Always courteous and professional with quick delivery. Their products and support made my company possible :-)” James Rothschild, IDM Imagineering

Do not take our word for it. Here are a couple of reviews. See our Tangy Orange review or our Grey Sparkle review here.
How do they work?
Elefilament Refills fit on to the Masterspool. Just unscrew the 2 halves and insert the refill 3D printing reel and tighten it up. Line up the cable ties with the dents in the masterspool. Undo (DO NOT CUT) the re-usable cable ties and retain with the desiccant gel.
Use the reel as normal. When you want to change colour you can use multiple Masterspools OR simply replace the colour on to the spool. To do this, re-tie the cable ties, unscrew the 2 halves and lift the filament off the spool. Put it into a bag along with the absorbent gel.
NOTE: We are phasing out the re-sealable foil bags due to problems with shipping. We will by supplying the refills in a nylon bag and box.
How do I get my Masterspool
You can download and print your own at thingiverse - https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2843577. Printing your own spool means you can use up all the odds and ends of material you have since you won't really mind what colour. The more multi-coloured the better, we say!
Small Bed? No worries, we have designed a Masterspool prints with smaller parts and can be made on a smaller bed - https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3175515

Why should I use a Masterspool?
The main advantages are cost and reduced waste. We pass on the savings!
You are being kinder to the environment by reducing waste. You will no longer have an empty spool to deal with. Weight in shipping is also reduced which has an environmental impact.
You will have an extra item - 3 cable ties. These are re-useable so keep them when your spool is finished and see what else you can keep tidy with them.
What is PLA
PLA (Polylactic Acid) is a good material to start 3D printing with because it is easily handled by 3D printers. It cools quickly, thus decreasing the likelihood of the object becoming warped. It operates at temperatures between 190 and 220 °C. Colours may vary slightly from the colours shown in the pictures.
Our PLA is made by NatureWorks, an American company known for its innovation and quality. We never use recycled materials, since they can be harder to print with.
How we make our filament:
- Quality raw material made by NatureWorks, the world’s leading manufacturer of PLA
- Thoroughly dried using a desiccant air dryer to prevent air bubbles
- Low tolerance (0.05mm) to make it easy to print with
What’s more, our production staff care and take pride in their work and want to make you the best filament they can!
You can download our MSDS and TDS for more information but here are the highlights:
- Extruder temperature: 190 and 220°C
- Platform temperature: 50° - 60°C
Packaging & Storage
Each reel of PLA 1.75mm Elefilament is enclosed in a bag with silica gel to absorb moisture and normally sent to you in a thick plastic bag. Orders for larger quantities are sent in a box. As moisture can affect the quality of the filament, we recommend you store your reel in the bag with the gel when not in use.
