At 3D Print Works we have designed this really useful 3D printed knurled nut. It simply transforms a standard M4 steel nut by encapsulating it inside the 3D printed part. It makes the small nut much easier to manipulate and hand tighten, there is no need for a tool such as a spanner.
Taking “me” to a whole new dimension with this 3D printed “Mini Me”. I had a 3D scan of myself done last November at the 3D Print Show in London. When the STL file arrived, I couldn’t wait to get it on the printer. It is quite spooky to see yourself emerge from the feet up on a Makerbot.
Our recent 3D print challenge was to build a Rostock 3D Delta Printer. The Rostock 3D printer was designed and built by Johann C. Rocholl in 2012 and has a variety of different designs built around it like the Kossel, Rostock mini, Rostock MAX, Rostock-Montpellier, Rostock Prisma, Delta-Pi, Cerberus, cOssel, Cherry Pi and ProStock. We decided to build this particular model because it was much lesser known.
What do we mean when we talk about 3D printers? For most of us, we mean the kind of 3D printers we have at 3D Print Works – a MakerBot Replicator or a Reprap. This uses one type of technology (FDM) but there are other types of 3D printers available which this article will explain.
We are passionate about 3D printing and hope we can incite the passion in you, too. When I am asked why, a myriad of ideas pop into my head – so many it is difficult to be clear. So I have narrowed the list to 3!
