It is World Elephant Day today – so let’s all sit up and take notice of the dangers facing these wonderfully majestic and altruistic animals.
Elephants have roamed the earth for around 55 million years, but throughout history they have faced hardships such as ivory poaching and the destruction of their habitats. Elephants are often slaughtered so that affluent individuals can enjoy objects like trinkets and jewellery, while increasing populations mean that elephants and humans are being forced to share living spaces, which can often result in bloodshed.
In order to mark the day in our own way we have 3D printed bookends that showcase Elefilament. Merging our love of filament and elephants together, we created Elephilament, our own special brand of material that is produced to the highest level of quality and suitable for printing on the majority of mid-range 3D printers such as Makerbot replicator 2 and 2x, Ultimaker and Reprap. The material comes in ABS and PLA and is available in 15 different colours!
