If you’ve always dreamed of owning a Faberge egg, why not make one on a 3D printer from PLA filament instead?
I have always loved the stunning jewel encrusted eggs created for the Russian Tsar’s by Faberge – well who wouldn’t!
The story goes that Carl Faberge had complete freedom with regard to the design of the Easter eggs with only one stipulation, inside each egg there had to be a surprise.
Today Faberge eggs command high prices, and recently an egg worth £20m was almost sold for scrap! I have no doubt there’s very little chance I will ever get to own one.
So with that in mind I set our designers at 3D Print Works a task to create our own 21st century homage to these great works of art. Our egg was designed using the latest technology, but wasn’t created using gold and precious gems!
Replace goldsmiths with a MakerBot Replicator 2X 3D printer, swap gold and gems for our own ABS filament. And, hey presto, I present to you the FabEggJay Easter egg holder! It has a fabulous sleek, modern design and it too holds a surprise – a chocolate Easter egg!
So, if you have always dreamed of owning a Faberge egg – why not click here to download our FabEggJay from Thingiverse and be the proud owner of one made from filament instead!
